POSITION SUMMARY: Utilization Reviewer
The Utilization Management department is a comprised of Utilization Reviewers and Discharge Planners. The Utilization Reviewer contacts external case managers/managed care organizations for certification and recertification of insurance benefits throughout the patient’s stay, and assists the treatment team in understanding the insurance company’s requirements for continued stay and discharge planning.
Education: Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work, mental health, or related degree required.
Experience: A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a healthcare setting or managed care company with experience in patient assessment, treatment planning, utilization management, and/or case management.
Licensure: LMSW, LCSW, LAC, LPC, LIASC, LMFT, or other healthcare – related licensure preferred.
Additional Requirements: Successful completion of Management of Aggressive Behavior (SAMA) including restraint and seclusion policies, within 30 days of employment, and prior to assisting in restraining procedures. Must have valid CPR card upon hire.
