Perform technical duties in the fields of safety engineering, environmental sanitation, fire protection, industrial hygiene and/or radiological health.
Prepare and calibrate equipment used to collect and analyze samples, enter confined spaces, and other noise/air monitoring as needed.
Provide basic regulatory compliance problem solving support to Tesla associates, supervisors and other EHS Staff.
Maintain a strong presence on the factory floor to coach Tesla personnel toward safer behaviors and self-sufficient safety problem solving.
Deliver EHS training and maintain training records (Safety Orientation, LOTO, Spill Response, etc.).
Support incident investigations, corrective action follow-up, and incident documentation.
Monitor email traffic and respond to associate and supervisor EHS concerns (in person and in writing).
Maintain daily written pass down log to communicate with other EHS shift support.
Perform Job Safety Assessments and help develop Standard Operating Procedures.
Complete assigned projects within their level of scope as directed.
Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly inspections and input data gathered into spreadsheets/databases.
Create and install EHS signage.
Coordinate delivery of PPE, and coordinate installation of facilities safety supplies (first aid kits, eye wash stations, etc.).
Create and update evacuation maps and maps of safety and emergency response equipment/supplies.
Serve as a dedicated shift resource to Tesla Facilities, Security, Training, Maintenance, & Production Teams.
Liaise with Panasonic EHS as needed.
Build/repair tooling and equipment that support day-to-day health and safety operations.
3+ years of experience in a similar manufacturing/industrial environment, and/or 1+ years performing EHS-specific duties in manufacturing/industrial environment is preferred
Passion for building customers/teammates into strong, self-sufficient EHS problem solvers.
High School Diploma or equivalent; Associates or Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Able to work well in production and construction environments.
Proficient at MS Excel, MS PowerPoint and MS Outlook (or similar email tools).
High tolerance of change and willingness to help others navigate changing work environments.
Strong teamwork and excellent communication skills.
Able to lift up to 50 lbs., stand and/or walk for 10+ hrs daily, climb stairs and ladders, occasionally perform repetitive hand/wrist motions and twist/bend upper body.
Able to rapidly respond to hazardous spills or employee health emergencies, including administering life saving measures.
Able to discern audible and visible alarms.
Comfortable working with materials that contain hazardous chemicals.
Must meet ERT qualifications, including wearing of emergency response suit, clean room suit, and purifying air, supplied air or self-contained breathing apparatus for extended periods of time per emergency response protocol.
